How to Create A Fall Tablescape
Fall is such a beautiful time of year. From jewel tones and vibrant colors, to cozy sweater-weather and hot apple cider, I’m here for all of it!
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I incorporated the beauty of fall into my tablescape, and I absolutely love the way it turned out.
Here’s a few tips for creating a winning tablescape :
1. This should go without saying, but start with a clean table before adding your tablecloth or runner. This is especially important if you decide not to add either.
2. Place your centerpiece(s) on the table. Whether you choose to set it directly in the middle of your table or off-center, a centerpiece is the building block for tablescape success because it creates a focal point and helps to drive the overall decor theme.
3. Add candles around the centerpiece(s). Whether you use wax, soy, or flameless candles, you can’t go wrong. Nothing sets a cozy, intimate vibe better than eating a meal by candleight.
4. Add plate chargers or placemats. This instantly elevates your table and accentuates anything you set on top of it.
5. Place your dinnerware on top of your charger/placemat. A tradional setting calls for; dinner plate first, then salad plate, followed by soup bowl. Of course, this depends on how formal or informal you want your your table to be.
6. Add your flatware to each place setting. Whether your table is formal or informal, forks always go to the left of the plate, and knives and spoons go to the right.
7. Add stemware. Another rule of thumb, whether you are creating a formal or informal tablescape, drinking glasses (water goblet, wine glass) should be placed on the right.
8. Finally, enjoy your meal and your guests who gather around the beauty you’ve created!
Stay Fabulous!
